Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is guided hypnosis, or a trance-like state of focus that is similar to being completely absorbed in a book, movie, music, or even one's own thoughts or meditations. In this state, clients can turn their attention completely inward to find and utilize the natural resources deep within themselves that can help them make changes or regain control in certain areas of their life.
Hypnotherapy can be used for the treatment of anxiety, stress, panic attacks, post-traumatic stress disorder, phobias, substance abuse including tobacco, sexual dysfunction, undesirable compulsive behaviors, lack of self-esteem and confidence, mood disorders, and bad habits. It can be used to help improve sleep or to address learning disorders, communication issues, and relationship challenges.
Hypnotherapy can help in pain management and help to resolve medical concerns such as digestive disorders, skin conditions, symptoms of autoimmune disorders, and some areas of pregnancy or chemotherapy.
What is the difference between hypnosis and hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis is defined as a state of mind, while hypnotherapy is the name of the therapeutic modality in which hypnosis is used. Hypnotherapy is practiced by a hypnotherapist who is a trained, licensed, and/or certified professional.
What happens in a hypnotherapy session?
The first hypnotherapy session is structured in the best way to understand the problem and the desired state of being.
The following sessions start with discussing the progress and any additional issues, then several different approaches are used to achieve the realistic objectives set. During the therapeutic session, the client is guided through a process to induce a trance-like state that helps to focus the mind, respond more readily to suggestions, and become deeply relaxed.
Do I lose control under hypnosis?
No, you do not lose control over your mind or body at any stage during hypnosis. In a hypnotherapy session, clients are conscious; they are awake, participating, and remembering. You will be fully aware of your environment and will have full access to your conscious mind.
What are the duration and cost of a session?
The duration of the session varies between 45 to 90 minutes as per the therapy technique used. Often 8 - 10 sessions are enough but depending on the nature of the issue and the desired state of being more sessions may be needed. Usually, the time interval between the two sessions is 3 weeks.
